Are There Risks Involved In Lasik Surgery

Lasik eye surgery is painless because of the numbing drops or local anesthetic used before the procedure. But the effect of these numbing drops wears off and your eyes start having discomfort without any severe pain. This discomfort may last for few hours.

Every person who undergoes lasik surgery knows that with a corrected vision he or she will have a new life after the surgery. But if there are side effect which come along with the promise of new life Yes one may experience some side effects like blurred vision, light sensitivity or some dryness in the eyes after the lasik surgery but the side effects of lasik surgery might not last very long and will soon disappear and your eyes start its healing process immediately.

Infections, under and Over-Correction

Other risks and complications which may be involved in lasik surgery and include infections, under correction or over correction of the defect, night glaring, regression and also corneal haze. There are also other side effects of lasik surgery like free flap and epithelial in growth after lasik. The main risk of lasik surgery is the infection and this requires a post surgery activity schedule that needs to be followed up with prophylactic antibiotics. The chances of you developing eye infection after the surgery are very low but it may still occur and in this case , the healing process would often be very slow.

It is said that at least 5% of people who underwent lasik surgery would experience some form of side effects of lasik surgery. But more than this surgery leading to under-correction and requires a touch up procedure that should be performed within 90 days. Even after lasik surgery, a doctor may need to prescribe the patient to use corrective lenses to be able to see clearly once again. This may be due to either under-correction or over-connection.
